Visiting different spaces and observing the concept of belonging

Repeatedly in the process of experimentation were questioned the spaces: do we belong here? Is the space welcoming? How do we feel about certain places where we are underrepresented? With young people, we visited different spaces such as museums, gallery, public beach and university of applied science. We talked about the atmosphere of the spaces, their strengths, but also limitations. How does it feel when a person with Turet syndrome enters a quit gallery? What can be improved in the cultural places for people with neurodiversity? What can people with mental health issues do, when they feel overwhelmed? Young people collected many good ideas, such as availability of noise cancelling headphones and sunglasses in those places; calm dark room available in museums; possibility to write notes on paper when verbal communication is not possible; clear statement visible in the spaces, that diverse people are welcomed; instructions for visitors on how to react towards people with different mental health or other issues.
