In participatory action research conducted with young people in Finland we aimed (among other things) to experiment with different types of communication. Many young people wished for simpler language and clear instruction in the university environment. We observed together how possible is to use more visual methods, such as drawings to communicate complex issues. Diary was introduced as one tool that can be used during the participatory action research for capturing own thoughts or ideas in a way that works for the person the best. In the attached video you can see the drawings from the diary and topics that the drawings woke up.
